This project is meant to show how we can make society better for everyone, in the short and long run, by rejecting the false assumptions that drive our current trajectory, and replacing them with common-sense truths that, if applied through policy, will propel us to the ideal we've strived to achieve for centuries.
When there is someone to blame, it stops us from critically thinking about the problem and clouds our judgement about what is best for us, our community, and our society at large.
While it is true that poverty is inevitable in a crony capitalist society, there are many ways a market economy with a supportive government can eradicate poverty.
People want to survive and maintain a steady stream of dopamine, but that doesn't mean we are bad. In fact, when crisis happens, cooperative behavior is what causes society to survive; why not encourage this behavior when we're not threatened?
Businesses have one purpose; to create a profit for shareholders (or stakeholders if private). They are very good at this, sometimes at the expense of people's lives. Since when was the survival of a profit engine more important than the survival of people? Why do we subsidize the corporations who do the most damage while cutting funding from those that seek to repair or prevent the damage?
