About The Viral Candidate
The Character
The Viral Candidate is a person who I wish was running for president. She is a person who goes viral on the internet for sharing her ideas about how to solve the problems that plague us. This fictional character uses real research and theory to back up her proposals. She is meant to be someone to give us hope and change the way we see each other.
Purpose
This satirical writing project is what we could do if we decided to but will not because we are too comfortable. The Viral Candidate is a series of what-if solutions based on the rejection of several assumptions that harm society. These assumptions are addressed and corrected using the premise that we are fundamentally good and explained through actionable theories called Ethical Business and Lightbulb Education.
Ethical Business
What was once one field of study has become two, and they need to be reunited. Instead of championing private industry OR governmental oversight, we can champion the public good and make public and private interests compete to do it better. The Viral Candidate's theory is based on Adam Smith, John Stuart Mill, John Kenneth Galbraith, and other noteworthy thinkers from a variety of disciplines. This writing project is a political economic model explaining the potential consequences for a series of what-if solutions for many of our current woes.
